  Why do Americans have to pay so much for College???

  i know there is a huge college/university lobby here in the us that lives off of students paying, in some cases, enormous amounts of money just to attend.. putting politics aside, if that is possible, (and i am not a bernie sanders guy by any means), but how can we pay for pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, elementary school, junior high, high school, and then throw a huge debt to someone who wants to continue learning?

  can't the us (public and state universities) afford four more years for young people to get on a career path without having to, in some cases, take out a mortgage/loan more than the cost of some homes?

  then, (and nothing against immigrants, i am married to one), but then the us has to "import" students from other countries to fill the needs that we should be supplying here.

  Kids are taught that the only path to success is a college education, and regrettably, college is really not for all people. The flood of money creates a bubble, costs rise, and quality falls as all the <insert bull shit word>-studies programs are created.

  Employers are at fault for the insane college costs. They drive most high school kids to go to college to get a degree, even if they are meant for a manual or vocational training. Colleges increase costs because there is a high demand for a college education. A piece of paper tells every employer what your wage will be and where you fit in the company. Unless you come out of college with a specialized field, you will compete with more job seekers than you thought.

  I sent my 3 children to college. My total cost was over $200,000. I pay most of the loans by a home equity loan. The loan is a burden on my back. Yes, my 3 children all work full time jobs but for what they make per year, someone who is in the trades or has their own business makes more.

  i was watching a news report last night on the homeless people in chicago, who were living outdoors in extreme cold and snow.

  the homeless were seen living under bridges and street tunnels.. a missionary church called ''the night ministry'' was driving around helping the homeless with water, food , blankets and free rides to a local hospital if they were in need of medical care.

  talk about following the words of jesus!.

  Is It Always Wise to Give to Charity?

  A Balanced View

  No question about it, as Jesus said, “You always have the poor with you.” (Matt. 26:11) And he also said, there is happiness in giving, in being unselfish, in being helpful. But to be gullible is to reward the greedy ones or those too lazy to work. Since there are deserving persons and deserving causes, one should practice discrimination. So the time-worn saying, “Let the buyer beware,” might well be rephrased, “Let the giver beware.”
  And, of course, those who are Christian ministers are in position to give something far better than silver and gold. And what is that? The truth of God’s Word, which brings comfort, hope, peace of mind and which can even result in life eternal. Having received free, they also want to give free. (Matt. 10:8; compare Acts 3:1-8.) And, in fact, it is in regard to this kind of giving, of spiritual things, that the apostle Paul quoted Jesus’ words about the greater happiness that comes from giving.​—Acts 20:35.

  So, there you have it! The Watchtower Society advises fellow members not to give money to charities because: ''You will always have the poor'', ''You will reward the greedy and those too lazy to work'' and leaving Watchtower Bibles and literature is far better than silver and gold.

  Watchtower Society ..What about opening up soup kitchens/ warming centers for the homeless? What about providing monies for clothing, school supplies and medical centers for the unfortunate?

  I know the answer to those questions! Not once in the 40+ years I was a Jehovah's Witnesses did I see any kind of mention to donate to any charities. It was only after I left the Watchtower Society did I start giving money, donating clothes/ furniture and donating my auto for veterans who needed help with their everyday expenses.

  The Watchtower is not just the most read Christian magazine, it is world’s most circulated magazine in the world. Its total circulation is 93 million. This magazine is available in 369 languages. Jehovah’s Witnesses publishes two editions of this magazine i.e. Public and Study edition. Public edition of The Watchtower has limited number of pages but it is more popular than study edition. It is thought to be the best religious magazine of the world.

  Addendum: Please remember to deduct from circulation numbers....numerous copies that are taken from literature counters to impress fellow members and stuffed in a field service bag and never handed out....magazines that are left sitting unread at Doctors offices, laundromats and apartment hallway counters....members who have one in hand but never reads, and magazines that are handed out in field service where magazines are thrown in trash can by a householder who will never join the religion.

  Here is Gary Breaux explaining the Watchtower's two witness stance. He quotes Deuteronomy 19:15

  15 One witness is not enough to convict anyone accused of any crime or offense they may have committed. A matter must be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.

  
  Somehow Mr. Breaux omits reading:

  Deuteronomy 19:16-19 New International Version (NIV)

  16 If a malicious witness takes the stand to accuse someone of a crime, 17 the two people involved in the dispute must stand in the presence of the Lord before the priests and the judges who are in office at the time. 18 The judges must make a thorough investigation, and if the witness proves to be a liar, giving false testimony against a fellow Israelite, 19 then do to the false witness as that witness intended to do to the other party.   He acknowledges that a CRIME can occur even if only one person has witnessed it. So, why doesn't the Watchtower Society pursue and investigate the pedophile claim any further? Why doesn't the Society let the parents call the police if their findings point to a crime?

  I highly recommend watching this disturbing two-night investigative special,''The Witnesses.'' Being in the organization for over 40 years myself ( left 10 years ago ), this first-part special really shows how the Watchtower Society lies, think the Society is above the law, the Society do not want the image of the Organization ''tarnished'', refuse to hand over their database of pedophiles due to lawsuits, give predators more rights than the pedophile victims and Elders do what they are told without disagreement when it comes to hiding the secret pedophile cases.

  Here is a screen shot of Governing Body member Stephen Lett denying that the Organization has child abuse problems!

  
  

  Some really disturbing findings in the first-part series: Why would parents allow their 7 year old daughter spend time, and even allow her to sleep overnight with a couple who have no children of their own?

  Why was the pedophile husband ( Roland Lawrence) bathing a 7 year old girl with the door closed and not the wife? Supposedly, the wife knew what he was up to but she was too afraid to say anything!

  Another disturbing pedophile victim story: Jehovah's Witness parents allow the same husband ( Roland Lawrence) and his wife ( who have no children of their own) bring their 10 year-old daughter to a convention, and allow a ten-year old to sleep overnight at a hotel with them. The pedophile molests the 10 year-old in the pool, while the pedophile's wife stays in the hotel room.

  I found the non-actions of Mr. Roland Lawrence's wife just as disturbing as her pedophile husband!

  There is a possibility of more people (JWS) dying from suicide than from refusing a blood transfusion !

  i just recently heard of another person (jws) taking their life by suicide, a woman in her 30's.. sheesh, reflecting back upon all the other past jws that unfortunately did this, it creates an unnerving acknowledgement, jws are more likely to die from suicide than from refusing a blood transfusion.

  i remember going back to the 1970's there were occurrences of people who i knew who were associated with the jws in one way or another committing suicide.. at the time i thought well people will do that just like the rest of the general population, not taking notice about the association with the jws.

  but now i do see a connection in knowing of how people are mentally entrapped by this religoius cult in their psychological mind set and sociological behavior.

  Finkelstein: I totally agree with this statement! The mental toll this religion has on all its members is overwhelming. Some members have no choice but to leave the Watchtower Society to regain their sanity. Some members stay for family, but it takes a physical and mental toll.

  I believe that unless someone leaves a suicide note...it is pure speculation on everyone's part on why someone takes their life.
